In this article, we’re going to explore a topic that delves deep into the world of psychology: your subconscious mind: More specifically, how to use subconscious mind power. If you’re unsure what exactly the subconscious mind is, not to worry.
We’ll look at the power of the subconscious mind and why this may be holding you back. We’ll also look at how to use the subconscious mind in our favor rather than having it fighting against us. Through all of this, we will eventually realize how to use the power of the mind to our advantage.
What is the Subconscious Mind?
You may or may not have heard the term before. To put it simply: take a moment to think about why you’re reading this article. That right there is your conscious mind, that little voice inside your head. When you’re asleep, you are unconscious.
Meaning that you’re not consciously aware of what’s going on. However, dreams are a product of our subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind is the result of a number of different processes. Our DNA, for example, plays a role in our subconscious mind, such as our desires, cravings, defense mechanisms, etc.
However, behaviors we learn, practice, and experience throughout our lifetime can also become ingrained within our subconscious. In learning how to use subconscious mind powers to our advantage, we have to acknowledge the power they have over us now.
To give you an example, doubt may be a subconscious process you exhibit. Years of being led to believe you lack ability or strength or confidence could have caused your subconscious mind to continue relaying that message to you.
Even when you perform well, you may doubt yourself and your ability. This is just one tiny aspect of your subconscious mind. The famous depiction of the mind shows our conscious mind as being the tip of the iceberg while our subconscious is the larger, hidden section below the surface.

The Pros and Cons
As with many aspects of our mind, body, and soul, there are pros and cons. Before we learn how to use subconscious mind abilities such as learned behaviors or emotions, we must take a little time to explore exactly how these came to be.
Let’s take another simple example: tying your shoelaces. When you first learn to tie your laces, it takes a lot of conscious effort. Your conscious mind has to actively try to recall memories in order to correctly follow the instructions on tying the laces in the right manner.
With practice, the technique soon becomes a long-term memory rather than a short-term memory. This means that you gradually pay less and less conscious attention to the act and can actually tie your laces without even thinking about it. However, the same is, unfortunately, true for negative repetitions.
We mentioned doubt earlier, this is just one example. Your subconscious mind can make you feel anxious, scared, excited, frightened, nervous, or even happy, in a situation that doesn’t remotely call for that emotion.
All because somewhere in your subconscious mind, that pattern has been repeated enough that it’s essentially written in stone…but that doesn’t mean it can’t be rewritten.
How to Use Subconscious Mind Power in a healthy way
Learning how to use your subconscious mind in a more efficient and productive manner may sound like an incredibly complicated process. In truth, it’s fairly simple and you may even find that you’ve used some of these methods before without realizing it.
So let’s take a look at some of the techniques:
Break the Cycle
Our subconscious and even unconscious minds work through patterns, as we mentioned earlier. Have you ever driven or walked to work and found that you enter auto-pilot mode without realizing it? Next thing you know, you’re standing outside work or sitting at your desk?
Then you may even auto-pilot through work. These patterns that allow your brain to switch down to half (or less) speed are also the same patterns that cause your subconscious mind to relay negative emotions, feelings, or reactions. Therefore, the simplest step you can take to learn how to use subconscious mind power is to break these patterns.
This could be something simple like taking a different route to work, starting a new activity in your free time, going for a run or cycle outside instead of going to the gym or even using your non-dominant hand for brushing your teeth or stirring your coffee.
Refocus your Efforts
You can, of course, go one step further than simply breaking the cycle. When you break the cycle, you leave gaps in the pattern which can be filled with productive, positive, and useful habits. For example, if you usually watch TV when you get home from work, you could try going for a run, reading a book, or focus on a hobby or skill such as painting.
By filling your patterns (and your daily life) with these positive steps, you not only alter your subconscious mind and shuffle the patterns; you add positivity into your life. This in itself will make you feel happier.
Meditate
Meditation is a great way to break the patterns of your subconscious mind. Learning how to use subconscious mind power can be made a little easier if your mind is relaxed but focused. Either carry out your own meditation or use a guided meditation instead of an activity that you view as unhealthy or causing negativity.

What’s next?
It takes more than a day to cement these new patterns, habits, and steps into your subconscious mind. You should allow at least a month before you consider altering your new patterns. After a month, if something isn’t working then at least the other positive steps will still be in place. It can help to keep track of your progress through a journal.
Similarly, planning your day in advance allows you to avoid any excuses should you lack motivation the following day.
